November Wishlist

  1. Luxury Lush Pud - Lush £3.40
  2. Baby Lips Electro in Oh! Orange - Maybelline $3.99
  3. Benefit Rockateur Boxed Blusher - Debenhams £23.50
  4. Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt - The Body Shop £8.00
1. I usually end up with most of the Christmas releases from Lush, and this year looks to be no different. They normally have a bath bomb called "Lil' Lush Pud" but this year they have the luxury version. Swanky.

2. I really want all of the Electro Baby Lips but this one looks to be a winner for me. I really hope we get the Electro range over in the UK but I have a friend who is going to (hopefully) be picking this up for me.

3. Ahh Benefit Boxed Blushers, the price is totally unjustifiable, but I want it anyway. I love the two that I already have (Coralista and Hervana) and this would make a nice addition to my little collection.

4. Possibly one of the most blogged about ranges recently, the Honeymania collection from The Body Shop. I love honey and anything you can chuck in a bath, so this looks perfect!

Nails Inc - New Burlington Place | Review and Swatches

I have recently been trying to find the perfect nail polish for Autumn/Winter and thought before I went out and bought something new I would have a look at what I already had.

New Burlington Place is a shimmery bronzy red colour so perfect for the cooler months. In some lights it does also look pink which I personally love.

Application was very smooth and dried quickly. I do like the chunkier lids that Nails Inc have as I find it easy to use.

New Burlington Place lasts a standard 5 days on me, but is stubborn to come off because of the glitter particles.

As with all Nails Inc this is £11, although I do believe you can sometimes get hold of this in TK Maxx for cheaper.

What is your favourite Nails Inc shade? Do you think they are worth the money?

Here is your daily dose of Karl:

The Weekly Ramble #25

The weekly face:
This week didn't start particularly well, I have been full of a cold and really exhausted boo. You know it's bad when people keep telling you that "you're even paler than usual"! Cheers.

On Thursday I had my injections so I should be raring to go over the next couple of weeks hooray.

The main event this week was going seeing HIM at Manchester Academy on Thursday. They are my absolute all time favourite band so I tend to watch them every time they come to the UK. Their new material isn't great if I'm honest, but they always play a good mix of old and new so I can't complain.

On Friday James and I had the day off work, by this time I had given him my germs so he was feeling rather sorry for himself. We just dossed about the house and caught up on some Breaking Bad.

My plans for next week are to try and get back into my gym routine, I've struggled with being ill and trying to get up at 5:30 to go! I've also eaten really badly, feed a cold and all that, so need to get back on the wagon.

MAC - Costa Chic Lipstick

Do you ever have one of those days when you just feel like you deserve a treat? I do, all of the time, and that is how Costa Chic from MAC ended up in my ever expanding collection.

Usually I do a lot of researching (read: looking at blogs) before I buy any MAC lipsticks as they are quite expensive, but with Costa Chic I just swatched it instore and bam, I was entering my PIN number.

Costa Chic is a "Frost" finish and is described by MAC as a "frosty light coral". This is the first Frost finish I have tried from MAC and I love it. Frost makes me immediately think glittery and cool rather than vibrant and shimmery so perhaps not the best description.

The wear time is a standard 3 to 4 hours on me, so not particularly long wearing.

What is your favourite MAC lipstick?

Empties #2

Since starting my blog I have been making a conscious effort to use up opened products instead of getting bored and moving on to the next thing in my stash! I have recently used up:
  • Possibility - Raspberry Pavlova shower gel/shampoo/bubblebath
  • Avon - Soft Pink bubble bath
  • Lush - Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon
  • Clinique - Superfine Liner for Brows in 03 Deep Brown
  • Kleenex - Shine Absorbing Sheets

This 3 in 1 shower gel/shampoo/bubblebath from Possibility is quite frankly, horrendous. I picked it up from the Pound Shop because it was pink and looked vaguely like Philosophy. It doesn't smell like raspberries in the slightest, just quite a strong chemically smell. It foamed quite well though. The smell was that bad I ended up mixing it with the Soft Pink to use it up.
Repurchase: Definitely not.

I have used quite a few Avon bubble baths in my time as I tend to pick them up when they are on offer. This one is quite mild and girly smelling and foams really well. It says on Avon's website that it is £4 for 500ml which I wouldn't personally pay, but think it is worth it when it's on offer.
Repurchase: Probably.

Ahh Yuzu and Cocoa, quickly becoming a firm favourite of mine. One thing I love about Lush is they don't use unnecessary packaging. The downside is that I don't have a proper picture for you! I did a full review on this a while back here if you are interested. I've used about 4 of these now so I would definitely recommend!
Repurchase: Definitely.

I love this Clinique brow liner, I have been using it pretty much every day since I got married (over 4 years!) as I just love the definition it gives. Again there is a full review here including swatches etc.
Repurchase: Definitely.

These Kleenex shine absorbing sheets were given to me by my sister-in-law and they are super handy to have on a night out. I am oily/combination anyway so these are amazing! You just press the sheet onto your skin and it removes excess oil. It is kinda gross to see how much is transferred but they certainly do the job.
Repurchase: Definitely.

The Weekly Ramble #24

The weekly face:

I am due my B12 injection next week hence the sleepy face! This week has been rather quiet again but on Thursday morning I woke up to a tweet saying I had won Jenna's 100 follower giveaway, which was actually amazing.

I am off work this coming Friday so a short week for me.

Hope you have all had a good one

OPI - Nail Envy

Today I am going to be sharing with you what I use to keep my nails in tip top condition. The Nail Envy from OPI is supposed to be used as follows:

  • 2 coats on your first application (you can then apply colour as normal if you wish)
  • 1 coat every other day after your first application
  • a week after starting the process, remove everything and start again
I will be honest, I rarely ever do the whole process, mainly because I forget or am just generally quite lazy at the moment. I just tend to use 2 coats on the first day and then remove once my colour starts to chip.

Once applied it leaves a glossy finish on the nails, but I have heard other people say that it chips really quickly. I personally haven't had this problem but maybe something to consider.

Mine is from QVC as part of a set with the Avoplex Oil (review here) and costs £19.50 as opposed to buying it on its own for £18.80 from a department store.

The bottle lasts a long time and I have recommended to many a friend who have all been impressed with it.

No picture of Karl today I'm afraid, he's being a very naughty bunny and won't be still for long enough ^.^

Lush - Dragon's Egg Bathbomb

Another day, another goody from Lush!

The Dragon's Egg bathbomb is quite a slow fizzer unlike most of the other bathbombs that Lush make. It smells quite citrusy and not particularly girly, so watch out for the men folk in your life helping themselves to this.

As you can see from the above, in the bomb are different coloured discs which are supposed to represent the scales on a dragon. The orange is to represent fire and leaves you with golden bathwater with speckles of glitter.

I love nothing more than coming home from work and having a bath to warm up and relax, so I always have a load of bathbombs in the house. At £3.25 it won't break the bank and Dragon's Egg is vegan also.

As with all Lush products this is best used fresh to get the full effect.

Here we have Karl having a chill:

The Weekly Ramble #23

The weekly face:
All I seem to have done this week is go to work, I even did a spot of overtime on Saturday! That is dedication.

My new Pokémon game came yesterday though so I am super happy and can't stop playing it.

I am going watching my favourite band ever later this month so I am looking forward to that! I am also totally in the festive spirit as I have done most of my shopping hooray!

Lush Fresh Face Mask - Brazened Honey

If you are a fan of Lush you will know that you can trade in 5 empty black pots for a Fresh Face Mask.

I have used quite a few of them before including; Love Lettuce, Cupcake and Cosmetic Warrior.

The Brazened Honey mask is for when you want to detox your skin.

It doesn't look too appealing but it smells lovely, somewhat floral but quite a licorice smell. You keep this in the fridge and then just take it out when you want to use it. As it has been refrigerated it feels lovely and cooling on the skin.

There is a full ingredient list on the website, but the main properties of this mask are:
  • antiseptic
  • moisturising
  • detox
  • stimulate
  • degrease
  • exfoliate
As it claims to target so many issues then I think that this mask would be suitable for everyone. I found that my skin felt less oily, softer and generally more radiant.

This is £5.95 for a 75g pot which is reasonable as you know that you are getting fresh active ingredients. You do have to use this within 3 weeks of opening to get the best effects.

What are your favourite Lush products? Or face masks in general?

Here we have Karl having a staring competition with my feet:

Benefit - Hervana Boxed Blusher

I received the Hervana blusher for my birthday, but I like to try things out properly before reviewing them.

This is the second boxed blusher that I have and I don't see it being my last!

I like the fact that within the box you get a brush and a mirror. For OCD purposes they stack really well together on my dressing table.

When swirled together it creates quite a baby pink colour, which isn't overly shimmery. I had major issues trying to picture of it swatched on my hand, for some reason it kept making my hand look really dark.

As you can see below, it gives a nice girly pink flush to the cheeks:

The Hervana blusher will set you back £23.50 which is totally extortionate but I love it.

What blushers do you recommend? Are you a fan of Benefit?

Here we have Karl being generally adorable:

The Weekly Ramble #22

The weekly face:
I can't believe how tired I look in that picture! That's what a day of the M6 does to you.

This week I have had my flu jab (the joys of working in a hospital), got a bit further on with my Christmas shopping and went to visit James' family yesterday.

I have been using my new skincare regime for about 2 weeks now and I can already see how much better it is. It also feels really soft and supple. I have been using Cleanse and Polish in the mornings, followed by Caudalie Beauty Elixir and then using SBC to moisturise. In the evenings I have been using a (miraculous) balm cleanser from Botanics followed by the toner from the same range, I then use SBC again in the evenings.

Christmas wise I am sorted for my Dad, James and most of the female family members (not Mums though). I have a few ideas but nothing 100% - any ideas greatly welcomed. More relevant to you lovely lot is that I have started buying a few bits for #BloggerSecretSanta yipee!

Yesterday, it took us about 3 hours to get to James' mum and dads, it only usually takes half that time! Anyway, when we got there we went out for some pub lunch (yum yum) and I got to see his brother's house for the first time. It always tires me out all of that motorway so think today will just be a day for relaxing (and a bit of ironing sadly.)
