May Wishlist

1. Philosophy - Fresh Cream EDT - Boots - £34.00
2. Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lacque - Appechissant - Boots - £8.99
3. Ojon - Rare Blend Oil - Boots - £30.00
4. LUSH - Lust Gorilla Perfume - Lush - £48.00

1. I have read about Philosophy's latest fragrance on many a blog lately and knew I had to give it a spritz the next time I was in store. I absolutely love it, it is clean (like all of the Philosophy fragrances) but a little bit sweet too. Good enough to eat for sure. I may just spend my points on this one.

2. I have only just tried the original Rouge Edition lipsticks from Bourjois and I can't believe it has taken me so long. The Aqua Lacque range are more sheer and Spring appropriate. I think the shade Appechissant is right up my street.

3. My hair is in a bit of a state at the moment, my roots are getting greasy quickly (I've changed shampoo, never again) but they ends are so dehydrated and parched. I've heard good things about Ojon and I just really want to chuck any sort of moisture that I can at my hair presently.

4. Ahh, Lust. Lust has been a long time favourite of mine as it is primarily jasmine based. I do love jasmine, I think it smells super sexy. I recently had a spritz when I was at the LUSH Spa which has only fueled the obsession.

Bomb Cosmetics Chic and Cheerful Bath Mallow | Review

What is going on with the weather at the moment? It's either gloriously sunny or bucketing it down! I don't think you can beat a bath after coming in from the harsh elements and what better way to have a bit of a pamper than a bath bomb?

Chic and Cheerful from Bomb Cosmetics is part of their bath mallow range, which are packed full of cocoa butter and shea butter to provide a lovely nourishing and moisturising bath.

First of all, how cute is this bath mallow?! Anything that looks like a cake is good in my book. As you have probably gathered, the bath mallows melt rather than dissolve so they're not as visually dynamic in that way.

The best thing about Chic and Cheerful is definitely the scent, I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was but it is actually rose and lemon. When combined, along with the shea and cocoa butters, they created a very sensual fragrance - along the lines of jasmine.

Chic and Cheerful is just £2.24 which is a steal really. Will you be picking up Chic and Cheerful?

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette - Sugar and Spice | Review and Swatches

Well that's an obscenely long name for a post, but that's how I like to roll!

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette - Sugar and Spice

I'm pretty sure I just order things willy-nilly from Makeup Revolution as I already own loads and loads of blushers, so I certainly didn't need another 8! Woops. The Sugar and Spice variant of the Ultra Blush and Contour Palette contains 8 shades of blusher, ranging from a pastel lilac to a taupe-pink. The only shade that I can't use is the lilac frosty one as it is just too shimmery for me, I prefer a more subtle highlight these days.

I love the packaging of this palette, it feels so weighty and well made and you can't beat a huge mirror in my opinion. I also think it looks very sleek and sophisticated being all black with metallic gold lettering.

The Ultra palettes contain 13g of product in total and I think they would be a great starting point if you are just getting into makeup or want a bit more variety in your life.

Sugar and Spice contains 2 light contouring shades, 4 matte pink blushers, 1 shimmery pink blusher and 1 lilac toned highlighter.

The Ultra palettes come in 6 variants, some are more bronzers and some are pure blushers and at £6 a snip they are a steal.

When I first opened up Blogger two years ago today never did I think I would enjoy blogging as much as I do. I know my blog isn't the biggest, nor the best - but that's never why I started.

I started to share my loves and loathes of the beauty world and connect with like minded people. There's only so much "oh my god have you seeeeeeeen the latest MAC collection?!" that non beauty fiends can handle!

So on that theme I am running a small giveaway, a MAC lipstick of your choice from their permanent collection. The giveaway is international and will run for 30 days.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

The Weekly Ramble #103

The weekly face:

It appears I'm channeling my 14 year old self with that choker but I really like it! Still also loving a bit of Viva Glam Miley too as is evident by my pout.

It feels like I've done loads this week. On Sunday and Monday I was in Leeds shopping my little heart out. I got to spend some quality time with my Mum and our hotel was beautiful, super fancy. Even though it was very fancy and I didn't see anyone else with tattoos I still managed to eat the most common breakfast in the world in front of all these suave looking people. The breakfast in question is a hash brown butty, which does sound repulsive I grant you but it is actually a taste sensation. I spent so much money in Leeds but I had a ball and that's all that matters.

On Tuesday James had his stitches out and his head is healing nicely, even if he does look a little bit like a thug! Ha. I managed to have a bit of catch up time with my college tutor on Thursday and I am progressing nicely, I'm about half way through my course and it is so much work. I thought I would get chance to do some at work but as it's been so busy I've been doing it all at home which isn't the best.

Saturday was the real star of the show this week, I went into Liverpool with my friend for food, shopping and a massage. First stop was Bill's which was a new experience for me, I had some American style pancakes and they were delicious. After a quick browse around Zara and Forever 21 it was soon time for our appointments at the Lush Spa. We both had originally booked in for The Good Hour but one of the therapists wasn't available so I ended up having the Hard Days Night Treatment. Now obviously I was a bit gutted as I don't deal with change/alterations to plans very well but hey ho! I figured I would just roll with it and it was absolutely amazing. Like I want to go back and have another one today. Bliss. After finishing up at the Lush Spa we nipped down the way to MAC and Illamasqua and picked up some "essentials". By this time it was about 16:30 and we still hadn't eaten so we went to TGI Fridays for a refuel. I have never been to TGIs before and honestly I don't see what all of the fuss was about. My cocktail was delicious but the food was meh at best.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion and Rockstar | Review and Swatches

Back in the day I was a huge Goth and wouldn't venture out of the house until I had a panda-eye going on. Fast forward 10 years (yikes!) and I definitely prefer a much subtler look. I had heard great things about the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners so was very excited to give them a whirl.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion and Rockstar Swatch

The two shades that I have are Perversion (black) and Rockstar (purple) and they are in a double ended pencil which definitely saves space in my makeup bag.

Applying these eyeliners is an absolute dream, they are so creamy, have great pigment and cause no dragging or irritation. They sound like a complete winner don't they? I have one huge problem with the 24/7 liners and that is that they transfer like you wouldn't believe. I don't really experience eyeliner transference these days as my skin is loads less oily than it used to be but these are a nightmare. I also wish Rockstar was more purple rather than grey-purple (is that a thing?).

Perversion and Rockstar will set you back £15.50 each which is absolutely insane considering that there are much more budget friendly, similar products out there. It may just be me that finds that they transfer but it is definitely something to consider if you are considering buying.

If I were to recommend something similar (and loads better) it would be the All Day and Night liners from Makeup Revolution.

Have you tried the 24/7 liners from Urban Decay? What did you think of them?

LUSH You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt* | Review

Now that the weather has been getting warmer it would be logical to stop having as many piping hot baths. Not for me though, I don't think you can beat a bath regardless of the season.

LUSH You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt

You've Been Mangoed is a luxury bath melt that I have used countless times before. As LUSH products are all handmade the colour of them can vary from bright orange to a pale peach. Admittedly the one that I have is a bit on the anaemic side of the spectrum but that doesn't stop it packing a punch in the fragrance and moisturising departments.

You've Been Mangoed is a naked product which is always pleasing to me. The luxury bath melt contains cocoa butter, almond oil, lemongrass oil, avocado butter, mango butter, lemon oil and lime oil which I'm sure you can imagine makes for a tropical and citrusy uplifting bathtime. As You've Been Mangoed contains so many oils and butters it is super moisturising on your skin which lasts for ages.

To use I break it in half and put one half into the bath as it is filling up with water. As You've Been Mangoed is so nourishing half is more than enough. As the little bar melts a gorgeous mango aroma fills the room and makes the bath water really soft. The water doesn't change colour or become glittery or any of that but LUSH do plenty of showier products, You've Been Mangoed is the one you want if you want super soft skin.

Each bar costs £3.35 which is very reasonable as a weekly treat.

Have you tried You've Been Mangoed? What did you think?

The Weekly Ramble #102

The weekly face:

My face wasn't cooperating this week so you can have an infinitely cuter one instead.

This week has been a strange one. On Tuesday James had a minor operation and he was so brave. I however was not. I'm so squeamish so being in a room while an operation going on isn't my idea of a good time. He seems to be on the mend now though.

On Friday tickets to one of my all time favourite bands went on sale, Brand New. Sadly I missed out on getting any for their gig on June 1st so if anyone knows of anyone selling any (at face value or close, piss off touts) drop me a line (Manchester). They must have known they were going to sell out the cheeky chimps as they announced another date which tickets were released for on Saturday. After roping James in and having 10 websites open between us we are now going to see them on 10th September. I'm sooooo chuffed as I've seen them every time they've toured in the UK.

As this post goes live I will be waking up in a hotel room in Leeds (hopefully - providing we don't cock up the trains). We traveled on Saturday evening and I can't wait to go and have a proper explore today. I've only been to Leeds once before and that was with work so I didn't get to venture as much as I would have liked. I'm open for any suggestions for ideas of things to do while we're here so @rufflesnrabbits on Twitter if you think something will be up my street. I'm with my Mum if that helps. We are going for afternoon tea today which is always a great thing.

Have a good one!

NUDE ProGenius Treatment Oil | Review

You may remember my recent foray into the world of facial oils so when the NUDE ProGenius Omega Treatment Oil was included in a LIBxBBB box I couldn't wait to crack it open.

NUDE are a skincare brand that I have not previously tried. NUDE are known for being natural and ethical whilst still promising great results. The ProGenius Treatment Oil is free from: parabens, sulphates, pegs, tea, dea, proylene glycol, phthalates, petrochemicals, synthetic color, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil and silicone.

Now obviously the 10ml size that I have isn't the same packaging as the full sized oil but it is still pretty fancy. I wouldn't travel with it but I don't do much of that anyway so isn't a problem. The lid draws the oil into the pipette when you push it down which makes me feel like I'm doing a Chemistry lesson back in high school. Small things eh?

The ProGenius Treatment Oil contains 10 nutritious plant oils that quickly absorb, and NUDE claim that it provides 24 hours of moisture. These oils are rich in omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9 which aim to deliver youthful, healthy-looking skin.

I find that the oil sinks in very quickly and is perfect for to use in an evening. I do find when I wake up that my skin still feels plumped and hydrated. As you only need 2-3 drops a time this little bottle is lasting me for ages. I think the overall condition of my skin has improved since using the ProGenius Treatment Oil and I would definitely consider picking up a full sized bottle, which at £58 for 30ml isn't cheap. The one downside to this product is the smell, it reminds me of pencil shavings. Not that that would put me off, after all I am asleep while it's working its magic!

Empties # 18

The latest five to bite the dust:
  • The Body Shop Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt
  • Clearasil Superfruits Cleansing Pads
  • L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel
  • Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo
  • Avon Bright Apple Blossom Shower Gel

Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt - I've spoken of this little delight here. I love the scent of Honeymania and we all know how much I love a good bubble bath. It gives loads of bubbles and they last for ages.
Repurchase: Yes.

Superfruits Cleansing Pads - I first became of this offering from Clearasil from binge watching Caroline Hirons' Youtube channel and of course, went out and bought them. I use these in an evening after cleansing and they have really sorted out my pain-in-the backside skin. Like really. Caroline described these as a good starting point to acid toning if that is something you quite fancy but have no idea where to start.
Repurchase: Yes.

Verbena Shower Gel - Verbena is one of my favourite scents ever. It is always my first choice for travel as it is unisex too. L'Occitane's offering is quite drying but smells amazing and makes you feel lovely and clean. My only problem is that it is so expensive.
Repurchase: More than likely.

Ultimate Blends Shampoo - I don't really know why I bought this as it is designed for dry, frizzy hair - which I don't have. I do however love it, happy accident! It is quite runny but cleans really well and doesn't make my hair greasy quickly. It also smells amazing.
Repurchase: Yes.

Bright Apple Blossom Shower Gel - I tend to buy a lot of Avon shower gels when they're on offer and they are all of the same consistency and make you feel really clean. However the scent of this is quite bland so wasn't really doing it for me. You win some, you lose some.
Repurchase: No.

Makeup Revolution I ♥ Makeup Lip Geek in Dare to be Different | Review and Swatches

Another day, another Makeup Revolution product.

I don't exactly know what made me buy Dare to be Different in the first place as the swatches on Makeup Revolution's website are so off.

I love, love, love the packaging of the Lip Geek lipsticks, I can spot this a mile off in my collection. I think the pink and purple metallic is so cute, and will definitely appeal to younger customers. It may not be your thing but I adore it.

The Lip Geek range claims to be super pigmented which is always a nice bonus. Dare to be Different is a nude pink which dries down to a semi-matte finish. I say semi-matte as it never feels drying or uncomfortable. This lipstick applies really well, is opaque in one coat and certainly is super pigmented. I find Dare to be Different the perfect every day sort of colour, I wear mine to work quite a lot. It doesn't last for hours and hours but that doesn't bother me, as it is so easy to reapply.

For £2.99 I will definitely be picking up some more shades the next time I am placing an order.

Have you tried the Lip Geek range?

The Weekly Ramble #101

The weekly face:

For all this week was a short one I'm still exhausted! I also feel pretty gross after eating Easter eggs at every opportunity. Back to running tomorrow for me!

I've finally booked an appointment at my local Lush Spa, I can't wait. You can't beat a good massage in my opinion.

Karl's major operation hasn't worked and he had to go back in again this week, thankfully he is fine but I'm pretty gutted he still has to go through them.

It doesn't feel like I've done much this week apart from go to work and sleep, so I'm looking forward to a few days away next weekend.
